~Our Prayer ~
That you will experience the joy and peace of knowing Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.
~Our Goal ~
To encourage everyone to discover a deeper personal relationship with God through Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior.
~Our Commitment~
To follow the commandment of our Lord as recorded in the Bible, John 13:34,35
"A new commandment I give unto you, that ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another.
By this shall all men know ye are my disciples. If ye have love one to another."
"James Keen: A Life of Faith and Service"
James Keen's journey of faith began in Brownsburg, a charming suburb of Indianapolis, Indiana. Raised in a church-going family, it wasn’t until the summer after his freshman year of college that he experienced a personal relationship with the Lord. Shortly after, God brought Mary into his life, marking the beginning of a partnership rooted in faith and love.
James answered the call to ministry during his senior year at Purdue University, where he earned a degree in Mechanical Engineering. In July 1998, he and Mary united in marriage, embarking on a shared journey of devotion and service.
"Likewise must the deacons be grave, not doubletongued, not given to much wine, not greedy of filthy lucre;
Holding the mystery of the faith in a pure conscience.
And let these also first be proved; then let them use the office of a deacon, being found blameless..."
(1 Timothy 3:8–13, KJV)
Through the guidance of the Holy Spirit and in honor of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, a group of born-again Christians banded together and organized Independent Missionary Baptist Church on May 14, 1950. The organizational sermon was preached by Brother Hersey Hopper and Bro. Elihu Martin prayed the organizational prayer. Fifteen individuals brought letters of recommendation from sister Baptist Churches and presented themselves for membership to form the new church. Those members elected Robert Noles as Pastor of the church pending his ordination.
The name Independent was chosen because of a common belief that each individual church is autonomous (self-governing) and independent of any other organization. On February 11, 2001, by action of the Church in regular business session, the name "Independent" was changed to "Huntingdon".

The original church building was constructed in 1951 (now the legacy sanctuary). Over the years, the building was renovated and expanded along with the purchase of land surrounding our property.
