My Testimony |
If someone had asked me five years before I was saved what sin would send a person to hell, my answer would have been, "The sin of UNBELIEF". Fortunately, I had the opportunity to go to a Christian school and be around Christian influences when I was young, but the devil crept in under the idea of good works and brought about confusion. I made several professions of faith only to realize that I was just caught up in the moment. I wanted to be saved so badly that I was willing to do anything to get the peace that only God can give. For a while, I got out of church, but not away from the convicting power of the Holy Spirit. I found out that a new mission work was starting in our home town of McKenzie and I told my wife that I wanted to go to their first Sunday service. After the first sermon, I realized that this was where I needed to be. I decided that I would just relate one of my earlier professions, join the mission, and no one would have to know just how scared I really was that I was going to die and split hell wide open from the pew of a Baptist Church. We joined and became active in the mission. I was the song leader and that gave me a small sense of security. God wouldn't let a lost person take an active role in His church would He? On Thursday night, May 5, 1988, during a revival meeting, the preacher quoted John 3:16 and the Holy Spirit reminded me that it is the sin of unbelief that sends a person to hell. As the service began, I closed my eyes in the pew where I sat and put my trust in the Lord. I asked Him to forgive me of my unbelief and He saved me.
ÿ"It is a good thing to give thanks unto the Lord, and to sing praises unto thy name, O most High: To shew forth thy lovingkindness in the morning, and thy faithfulness every night."
[Psalms 92:1-2]
